Minneapolis duo Sea Weeds load the front end of this week’s podcast with the weighty swoon of Fall Boi, drenched as it is with sumptuous orchestral tension.
From there, I get to share the A-side of PET’s second single Middle Child Syndrome, something new from the upcoming Dauwd EP, a brilliantly paced cut from a free Gonjasufi EP and a Regina-meets-Joanna-meets-Scout gem from Samantha Crain. Elsewhere there's Krampfhaft's hypnotic Dutch blend of rhythmic mastery, a bruiser from the new Altered Natives record, and the heartbreaking chorus of Lover’s Island by Joel Brandt is sure to be swimming around your mind for at least a week.
Finally Hunt in Pairs' ethereal whimsy grapples with a rising undercurrent of electronic clicks and thuds, and I must flag up the pop perfection of The Proper Ornaments, who I also ought to thank for indirectly introducing me to 6os troupe The Free Design, and the deliciously sinister song which inspired their name.
