My absolute favourite song from Girls' new EP Broken Dreams Club is Carolina, which nestles right in the middle of this week's free New Noise podcast.

Also making the final ten this week: oddball Northampton-based El Guincho-a-like samplers The Fantasies,a chrome and glitter pop beaut from Niki and The Dove, strung out slacker garage from highly exciting Atlantans Balkans, a looping, buzzing stomper from East London's James Delay, a genuine epic sliced right outta the middle of the ace 'new' Stereolab album, absorbing and intriguing warp hop electronics from Maryland's Maxmillian Dunbar, and to close; a dusted down Northern Soul nugget from 1966 by Motor City legend Melvin Davis.

All this plus Ox Scapula weigh in with a shuddering slab of their Stoke hardcore, which conveniently follows something from a new album titled Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will, by Mogwai, which was announced out of the blue on Friday of last week.

Thanks for listening.
