Philippians: Joy in Knowing Jesus & His Righteousness (3:1-11)

As Christians we often find ourselves singing lyrics like, " Nothing in my hand I bring, simply to the cross I cling". This line implies that we come empty of our own good works and righteousness to the cross and cling to the cross for the righteousness of Christ. But our reality is that we often parade our works and righteousness for God and others to see, saying, 'approve me, like me, look at me.' For some it is a raging animal of 'look at me' and for others it is a subtle need that causes sorrow when no one notices. In addition to that, there are many who join in on the chorus of look at how good we are, look at how much money I have, how successful I am, how great I am. And we get stuck in these comparisons.
