What constitutes truth? And where is it found? Is it relative to our upbringing and culture? Is there some consistent truth for all people, for all history? After appearing before the High Priests and being denied three times by His disciple Peter, Jesus is brought before Pontius Pilate, the Roman Governor in Jerusalem in the second half of John 18. In this exchange Jesus tells Pilate that His Kingdom is not of this world, but of another, and that He has come to this world to declare that He is King over all, and that all truth exists within that truth and that all truth is understood in light of that truth. If we deny it like the religious leaders of the day, or ignore it as Pilate did, we end up choosing the lie of our own Kingdom and choose evil. Jesus saves us from this by declaring to us the truth of His Kingdom and reign.
