Jesus is the ultimate man's man. Not just cause he is God in the flesh, but also because of the punishment and mocking that he absorbed so that we might be saved from slavery to sin, and freed from the oppression of sin in all it's forms. When denied as King by His own people and offered up to Pontius Pilate, the governor under Caesar, for crucifixion, Jesus responds with truth and courage in the face of brutal beatings and tauntings. Think about it, the Creator of the universe allowed the creation to mock Him and beat Him, so that He might take on the wages of sin for us. In this weeks message we see Jesus resolute before Pilate, and we see Pilate struggling to understand who Jesus is and exactly what is going with the Jewish leaders in their totally out of character appeal to Caesar as their own king. The Jewish leaders choose the wrong king, Pilate is confused about what kind of King Jesus might be, and in the end, Jesus reveals that all authority rest in God.
