After getting into some of the Library, soundtrack, and early electronic pop sounds that form the roots of Stereolab and Broadcast with 'La Diffusion,' Musicophilia presents a mix of their fellow keepers of the flame. While there are certainly quotes and references to be found--Caribou samples Barry Forgie; Beck directly homages Serge Gainsbourg; Yo La Tengo clearly took nautical inspiration from Sven Libaek--these sounds were never mined anywhere near exhaustion in the 60s and 70s, and these artists, lead by Stereolab and then Broadcast, found many ways to bring their own signatures to the world of sophisticated funk, analog synths, fantastic beats and thick but nimble bass lines. Be sure to check out 'La Diffusion,' and visit http://musicophilia.wordpress.com for many more mixes.
