David Axelrod was one of my favourite producer/arranger (and my PSN user name - daxelrod) , especially as I was looking for breaks and samples as a younger beat producer.

One thing you needed to know about Axelrod's tracks is that even if it sounded like it didn't have any samples (usually found at the beginning of a song), there was always a segment of the song that you could just lose your mind to it and load it right away in the MPC. David Axelrod's sound was very unique, and extremely innovative for his time ( as an arranger in the mid-1960's/as a producer in the late 1960's) - focusing on heavy drums and baroque string sections. Good compilation, I'm proud to have worked with Axelrod on Release of An Oath, as the vocalist. He had a nak for assembling a number of strong studio musicians with lengthy recording credits and established reputations. Sad he has passed, but not forgotten.
