After Kill The Villagers I kinda felt like I'd gone as far as I could on the "how many tracks can you blend into a new form" direction. At the same time I was also getting more into Wordsound and that whole (dare I use the term) Illbient movement, where hip hop beats and more ambient textures fused. So, using the name Fallen I put this 2CD set together: Illbient 60.
Conceptually the idea of this mix was fairly simple: I wanted it to sound like a journey through space (or some other dimension) where sounds and events almost drifted by. It was an anti-mix of sorts; nothing was beat mixed - there were no beats. Everything just fades in an out, passing through your mind.
By adding drones and textures I felt like this one created a really space-y vibe. By avoiding beat mixes it also meant anything was up for inclusion if the vibe was right - and the sequencing shows it. This one is still a firm favourite of mine to this day.
