The Light of the World :: House Set

Playing tracks by

Aquarian, Thom Monn, Pablo Nouvelle Ft. Tulliae, Urban Absolutes & Paskal, Rhye and more.

Chart positions

This show was 12th in the global vocal house chart, 16th in the global deep tech house chart, 22nd in the global progressive house chart, 47th in the global tech house chart and 64th in the global deep house chart.

Yet another impromptu session with no specific theme or goal that turned out to be very contained, steady and consistent. From the start you will get enveloped by atmospheric and scenic sounds that at times climax with a lyrical expression just to get swept away by more subtle and technical tracks. There is a certain darker overtone to the set, yet I feel like it's through the lens of desolation that you can truly embrace the light within, hence the apt naming. This set more than others pays respect to every tune inside and opts for a fluid progression with little surprises or sudden moves. I've taken it for a walk in a crisp October afternoon streets and was satisfied with it's message.

Love that Kate Simko, that's in my arsenal. :) Glad you came up a few leagues, so I don't get the bends. :)

Exact same sentiments as Goingrey's comment on the intro. Whoa! I've listened to a lot of deep house, but this is deeeep! Scuba gear isn't even gonna cut it. We're in Anglerfish territory.

Wow, thanks, Sean. It's very fulfilling when you find a track that allows things to snowball naturally, so it's great to hear that pieces ended up falling nicely into place. That's why I love live mixing, even if it doesn't work out, you still were going somewhere with it. Cheers, mate, thanks for checking this out!

Velvet Velsen

The opening track to this set was amazing, and how it transitioned into "Quédate Aquí" was perfect. It really set the tone for how this mix was going to sound. As you said in your description, this can feel dark at times, but it has a certain light within, a sort of warmth. Sometimes atmospheric, sometimes melodic. On top of that, there are a lot of intoxicating vocals (I'm a sucker for the vocals). "Dawn" was absolutely sick. I'd call this the break through track in the set as the change of energy was immediately noticeable, almost uplifting. Going into "Eyes Closed" that energy remains even though the track plays it down a bit, but you can still feel an upbeat vibe here. This carries nicely through until the nicely selected "Dust" closes out this set...dust to dust. This set was very good, homie. Well done. A crisp October day seem fitting for sure. It's done nothing but rain here all f'ing week so I wouldn't know :)

Thanks Goingrey, you always have most amazing breakdowns of the sets, where often I am like "umm sure, yea that was totally here on purpose" haha. My fave on here is "Poison", I am a sucker for wobblies :P "Dust" is a mad track, was very happy I got to put it to good use. Thank you for taking your time to listen and give such amazing feedback, I have no red left in me to blush.

First off ....what an amazing intro.
Intros are important to me and this set the foundation to a real clever, medolic but querky set.....
And I loved every minute of it.
Hats off!!

monogammee

Thank you for your kind words, Andrew. I know exactly what you mean, I always feel like both openers and closers are super important as they set and finalize the atmosphere of the set.

As always ace tune selection!
A special mention for the beautiful start with Soma - nicely builds with some elemental percussion & then goes into a deep brooding sound with "Quédate Aquí (con Salma Hayek)" which was a nice surprise touch after Soma.

I think Chris has already pointed out about the placement of "Dust"
Very smooth flow & tempo to the mix with fine interlacing of the tunes.

In summary Great tune selection, smooth flow without overdoing the tempo which adds to the quality of the mix! Had great fun listening to it!!
Appreciate your effort to put out quality mixes week in week out! Thank You!

monogammee

I am glad you got to enjoy it, Sunil. Cheers!
