rising revelations #27 // mmee

Chart positions

This show was 25th in the global minimal techno chart, 28th in the global deep techno chart, 28th in the global dark techno chart and 43rd in the global deep tech house chart.

This week's revelations is all about Techno. It is not often that I do full on Techno sets, it is truly my white whale to nail a perfect one.

I have often incorporated the big T in varying amounts in revelations, I have done all kinds of "darker" episodes, I have an attempt at an hour of Techno in my backlog. Maybe it's a micro lack of confidence on going all blacked out, but it's the striving part that makes it truly worth it, in my opinion.

This episode is all about Techno, yet I tried my hand at making it a star of the show, adorning it with sounds and textures that will support the heftiness of such powerful genre.

What awaits you, then, in this week's episode is a peek at the harder side of revelations, tracks that wear their edge and pensiveness on the sleeve along with melodic breakdowns and inspiring asides.

Grab a seat and let the sound envelop you and take you away.

2nd time around for me Mono. Love the opening track and then into d:worry and what a deep dark feel that track has to it (thought you were getting a bit gangsta on us there lol) then bringing in IV lifting the vibe and setting the stage nicely for a groovin tech vibe right through to Shadows. Emphasis by Hioll is a fantastic track as is Impulsos & Cromosoma.... :)

Thank you Paul and I am glad you enjoyed so many of the tracks! Funny fact, I started mixing with deeper dubstep, and while I lost my passion for it, sometimes a track just grabs my attention too much not to feature it. I think genre-wise I tend to stick to same stuff more often than not so if anything little change is good here and there. Thanks a lot for a listen, always a pleasure to hear from you!

heya mmee, sorry for late comment, i running behind lol ... always a treat to hear where your ears been taking you...tunes "that wear their edge and pensiveness"... the razat tune made me feel that...tbh i didn't like it, not cuz it's not a great tune, but cuz it made me feel uncomfortable...which I think was part of your intention perhaps with this set?...Nevia, Never Know, Techno (rhythm...whoo hooo tune!!!)...run!!! ... lol...mighty fine transition between Fire System and Vertigo...much love and respect my friend... lookin forward to the next one :)))

monogammee

Totally understandable about razat tune :) If there was a reason for the why of including it then probably the most likely would be the sound design in it, it just sounds pretty fat :) As for the rest of the set I think I can agree that while not directly alienating a listener, there is definitely a hint towards devil may care attitude and hedonism of Techno the way I see it (hence the softer melodic interludes here and there). Like I mentioned prior I absolutely love when you share what worked or what didn't for you as it is a little more common to hear the good side, I love to hear takes on what didn't land as it makes me re-assess why I personally enjoyed that tune in the first place. Thank you!

Superb track selection here Mono & a set that just keeps giving from start to finish. Absolutely loved it. Will be back around for another listen as well as checking out the artists.
Cheers

Oh my, how did this slip through the cracks without a reply, my apologies, Paul. Its always a pleasure to hear good things about sets that you personally love more than usual, so I am very happy to hear this one spoke to you my man! Cheers!

I look forward to each Revelations, dude. Your selecting is one of the main reasons your series stays awesome. I always like to hear where you mind is at each session. The big T earned a big L(ike) in my book.

monogammee

Thanks a lot Rob(ro), and I always look forward to hearing your thoughts on each episode. I gotta admit even after all this time I approach every episode with excitement and full of anticipation and open mind each Sunday when it comes to selecting a crate. Sometimes it ends up being a showcase of the tunes and me moving aside and then more rare times my craving and the past two week me align on what the episode will end up featuring and this particular episode is a perfect example of that. Here is to hoping it will continue to stay fresh and exciting for both me and a listener :) Much respect, brother.

Jesse Zimmerman

Just over 20min in so far, very interesting selection of tunes and I am quite enjoying it.

monogammee

Thanks Jesse, first half is more of a twisting the sounds bordering Techno, hope you enjoyed the rest of the set as it opens up, I remember you saying you were really into melodic stuff as of late :) Thanks always for checking it out, my man!
