Australia Day in the 1980's

Playing tracks by

Mental as Anything, Gangajang, Boom Crash Opera, Sunnyboys, Do Re Mi and more.

When you think about 80's Australian music, you can't go past Men At Work's hit "Down Under", or many other very ripper songs such as "Need You Tonight" by INXS, "Beds Are Burning" by Midnight Oil, "Xanadu" by Olivia Newton-John, "You Shook Me All Night Long" by ACDC, or "Lost In Love" by Air Supply.

While many countries around the world enjoyed these bonza hits from Australia, back down-under, these artists also had a much longer list of dinki-di songs that the international community may not know about.

For Australia Day 2011, take this opportunity to embrace the Aussie spirit with this ridgy didge mixtape of corker songs. Between every huge Aussie hit, dead-set you'll find a local favourite that was played on popular radio stations like Triple M or Triple J, which was part of the backyard soundtrack of Australia in the 80's. You beauty!

These are the local 80's songs Australia enjoys. Give it a squiz.

I gotta have something for next year! Cheers for the feedback

Great Machinations selection. Not quite as good as Average Inadequacy though.
