This is the DJ Mix of the 1st hour of Mijk van Dijk’s Radioshow “Fürstenberger Wohnzimmer” on evosonic radio from November 24th 2020.
Only the music, not the talking.
sure it is and i totally get your point of view in taking the vocals out. yet i listened to that great resident advisor podcast with annie nightingale yesterday and she put it perfectly when she said that the voice is the specific element distinguishing a radio show - no matter if mixed or not - from a playlist or a dj mix.
and from my personal point of view, which even includes listening back to my old radio shows i'm uploading on mixcloud, i don't mind the talking even if the information presented might be outdated, especially when it comes to shows announced or records presented as new at a certain point in time. but maybe it's also a thing our generation might be more used to due listening to cassette recordings of dj radio shows over and over again in the 90s where radio presenters voices were all over the place. rave satellite as one example that comes to mind. never had monika dietl on tape but i listened to some of her shows online and she's another good example of how a voice in a recording captures a certain moment in time.
defo a good idea to split the set in two (?) parts as it's really hard to find the time to listen to multiple hour uploads in one dedicated session... yet personally i wouldn't mind the talking though. at least it's a radio show, innit?
