Before IRadio....
Dance Radio was broadcast from late 1989 to mid 1990 and was one of the first shows of it's type on the Irish broadcasting landscape. A mix of current chart floor fillers and recent hits, it was a success if the sheer volume of phone calls for requests was anything to go by.
The idea was for a party on the radio that would emulate a 'Club' feel. I was 22 at the time and full of both enthusiasm and ideas. There was an offer to syndicate the show at the time from one of Dublin's big stations which for technical and logistical reasons didn't pan out. This of course was a time before the internet. Nonetheless, I still have fond memories of the era.
JNLR Audience figures had yet to arrive and this was in a world before texts also.
