Now that we understand grace from chapter 1&2, Colossians 3 gives us a very clear description of what new life looks like. We often read descriptions of the old self and new self, agree that we need some work, but then just move on without fixing anything. Maybe you've been burned trying to impress God by "being a better person", so you give up and settle for less. But as God's love and grace burns in our heart, it starts to change us from the inside out. If we want that fire to take over our whole lives, including behavior and habits, we're going to have work hard. When you have grace, it's OK to work hard on our character, our behavior and our habits! Join us as we talk about this grace/work balance and start to look at practical ways to grow up into Jesus.
For the visualization, we taped a big outline of Jesus on the floor. Micah then laid down in the middle of the outline to show how he is in Christ, and has some room to grow : )
