80 mins of varied music and conversation with Phillip Johnston discussing Steve Lacy, Monday 25th Oct, 21, on the Earthly Delights show. Phillip has been playing Lacy’s music regularly in various configurations since the 1970s.
A rare performance celebrating the book launch is happening on Dec 4, for the Afternoon Delights Series, held DOWNSTAIRS at Avalon Restaurant.
"Saxophone Special"/ Concert/ Book launch, features Phillip's quartet of Sydneys bright young saxophonists and will play music composed by Lacy, plus also compositions written by Phillip Johnston during lockdown.
Phillip is one of 43 contributors to a new book "Lacy unfinished".
Phillips contribution to the book is called, The Revolutionary Conservatism of Steve Lacy’s ‘Prospectus’. It is a musical analysis of the one of Lacy’s most unusual, and oft performed by him, tunes.
