When I went to 'Big School' I was the shortest person in the whole school. I was also a Mod. I was soon to be known as Mini Mod. Here is a 7" only selection of tunes that I listened to at this time, with a few others of a similar ilk thrown in for good measure (Yes,I like The Moons,a lot!). We start with the first 7" I ever bought in The Jam's Eton Rifles. Purple Hearts were a big band for me- the album Beat That! I still listen to regularly. A pre-Small Faces Marriott take on The Kinks classic, gives a familiar tune a different feel, and kicks off 3 cover versions- a double cover almost, with The Jam covering The Who's version of the Martha & The Vandella's tune, and Them with Big Joe William's brilliant Baby Please Don't Go. Solid Bond was the only Style Council track I liked when I was younger-all that French Cafe chic stuff was too sophisticated for a young angry(?) Mod like me. The last 3 Jam tracks rate amongst my favourite Jam tracks. I hope you like The Moons stuff- they're ace
