When time is short, we want to be with the people who matter most to us. These are typically not times for strangers, but familiar friends and family.
Jesus is no exception... except that His choice was exceptional. Walking through Jericho, Jesus encountered a man who was certainly not family, and many in his day would disown him if he was. Short in stature and shorter on friends, Zaccheus the tax collector came to "see who Jesus was" and got the surprise of his life: a dinner invitation... to his own house!
Jesus' critics seethed: "He has gone to be the guest of a man who is a sinner." That's because Jesus really knew who mattered most. As the last days drew close, Jesus made it a point to make time for the people He loved... the people who didn't know He loved them. Jesus came to seek and save the lost.
Let's consider together this week whether we're making time for the people God misses most.
