THE STORY OF JAMAICAN MUSIC - BOSS SOUNDS 1968-70

Playing tracks by

Clancy Eccles, The maytones, The Techniques, Count Busty & The Rudies, The Creations and more.

1968, and the soulful Rocksteady has been replaced by the frantic sounds of The Reggay, or Reggae is it became better known. These tracks here represent some of the best early reggae tracks, most were cut in 1968, some are from 69 and the odd one from 1970, but these two years bought some incredibly exciting and vibrant music into the world and this is probably my favourite podcast ever. There was so much material that I could have used that there will definitely be a second show concentrating on this period, though I may slow it down slightly as there are some really frantic sounds contained herein. This is a very long podcast but I promise it’s worth the download time. Most of these tracks were released in the Uk at the time and are incredibly hard to find.

Hi Pete, really nice mix but I have a question what is the title of the song after "The Techniques - You're my everything", it starts at 13:40 ? Because you put in the track list that it is "The Creations - Qua Kue Shut" but actually it's not.... Looking foward for your answer ;) Respect.

Blimey, I've no idea mate, but going by the sound quality, it's taken off a cd, sounds crystal clear - I can't make out a title otherwise I'd find it easily, if I get chance I'll play through a load of stuff and try and find it

Right Pete thank your for your quick answer. I'm gonna ask some friends if they know it. If I get the name I'll tell you. Great mix by the way "The Dynamics - The Burner" is a killer, one of my friend as the vocal "Dengue Fever" ;)
