THE NORTHERN SOUL YEARS - 1976

THE NORTHERN SOUL YEARS - 1976

Playing tracks by

Danny Monday, Rpm Generation, The Matta Baby, Mel Britt, Anderson Brothers and more.

Here is the second of three parts. A mate asked me to do a mix of the kind of stuff that was big when we first started on our Northern Soul journey – 1975, 1976, 1977 – well it turned out to be an epic journey and 1975 alone has 68 tracks! So I hope you enjoy the music and the anecdotes. As I do 1976 and 1977 there will be less talking and more music but I felt I needed to set the scene and explain what things were like back then. The records are all from my own collection so if I haven’t got it, then it’s not on the list. And it’s not a ‘biggest sounds of 1975’ kind of thing, it’s a true reflection of the records we listened and danced to.

Hi Pete, been painting my house for the last 3 months, just finished! your music has kept me sane.
Takes me back to my Casino days on the coaches come down from Edinburgh. I can relate to a lot of your stories. Keep up the great work and bringing back music and memories locked in my brain. Cheers Derek

Great nostalgia for a couple of hours or so however Pete you have foxed me,I have never heard the RPM Generation or G.Davis & R. Tyler (thankfully) must have been in the loop the only time they were played (surely).
