The Great Post-Punk Lost Classics Episode

Playing tracks by

Killing joke, The cure, Wah! Heat, Soft Cell, Sigue Sigue Sputnik and more.

A rare delve into the record box marked 'punk & new wave' to bring you a C90's worth of post-punk classics from the 80's (as requested). I think the Wild Swans record was the greatest record released in the entire decade and even now is still probably one of the best 5 records ever made. The Magazine 45 sounds like a tailor-made Northern Soul track! Regular listeners will know I've used a few of these before but The Chameleons and Wah! Heat are worth repeating. Also specially for Andy who I noticed signed up the other day.

You have to turn the tracks into one long file - I use a program called Mixmeister to segue them, then you just save as an mp3 file - then reduce it to a smaller size for this particular site.

What do you use to make the podcast? Tried something but all the tracks came out on top of each other!

Great mix here Pete, and many much-less-than-obvious choices too! I've some great memories of this music, when I'd leave the Crombie, Sta-Prest, and Loakes in the wardrobe, ditch the usual crowd and sneak off to a 'Goth' club in north London ........
