Got this tape it says Peterborough 23/1/82, doesn't say which venue, it's very quiet in there wherever it is but I've been trying to work out who the DJ is and I think it's Chris Plant, going by a) the records and b) him dedicating a record to his good friend Harpo. So I think it's the Wirrina allnighter, if not, it's the Fleet, anyway, bit of a quiet crowd but nice tape...

This was when a certain 'General' made a false bomb scare on another niter on the same night and that other promoter phoned the DS to get the other niter raided. There were DJs motors being broke into, taxing dealers when they were caught. It was a bad time run by bad people. And now apparently this same guy is promoting again like butter wouldn't melt. Some people have very selective memories. I had very good mates up in Peterborough/Cambridge/Lincoln/Boston area so went to all the niters up there from the very first thru the 90s so I knew everyone but tho most were very soulful lads there was/is some very dodgy geezers about and its a shame we let it happen. It was us that lost out in the end with all the amazing sounds found in the 80s/90s as we can hear. Just like Kev Draper played.

Billy Kennedy cover up is Billy/Bobby Wisdom "Handwriting On The Wall. Think it was a test pressing/white label copy at the time but released on Out A Site

Great to hear Booker T in here....

I have a tape of the same night - definitely The Fleet and Chris Plant djing. There was no trouble with a rival club at the time although there had been some issues in the past...
