The 90s must have been the golden years of cd. Together with classical music, jazz records lived an explosion of mad love about the new format, with an avalanche of back catalogue re-releasing, new masters, digpacks, boxsets... you name it. But, more than anything else, new music was released from old and new names.
During a big part of that decade a worked as a jazz writer and had access to a huge amount of material, from big and small labels, even cdrs which were handed out to me by the artists in interviews, festivals and cafés. Now that I focus on new jazz acquisitions on vinyl I sometimes overlook the great songs piled up in hundreds of cds at home. Too bad, since I love many of these cds and the music featured can only sometimes be found in mp3.
So I've decided to turn my interest back at my cd-teque with podcass such as these one. Pure jazz delight, straight or fusion, solo or ensemble... they are some of my favourite tracks.
Enjoy the ride.
