Martin Newell's ODDCASTE 20 "Unreleased Backgrounds."

Playing tracks by

Xtc, Dukes Of Stratosphear, The and The Beach Boys.

Between January and July of 1993, Martin Newell of Cleaners from Venus made his first solo album, produced and engineered by XTC's Andy Partridge. The album, described at the time by Rolling Stone magazine as a 'rock classic' continued to gain status as such. 25 years later, re-released on vinyl by Captured Tracks, Martin speaks about (and plays) some of the records he was listening to at that time. Includes the Beach Boys. XTC, the Dukes of Stratosphear, The Left Banke, John Shuttleworth, Jack Payne Orchestra and Cleaners from Venus.

Do you remember revisiting some of the tracks for the XTC Convention of 2005? I played drums in the backing band, The Fuzzy Warblers. :)

Sounds Delightful

I didn't know the Four Tops had a cover of "Walk Away Renee." The Left Banke version is the one you always hear in the U.S. Really enjoyed the show!

You're kidding! The Four Tops version is the only one that most people in the UK know.
