Moogs, Riffs and Future Beats - More Beats from Games - Soundtrack Mixtape No. 12

Video game music is often characterized as upbeat, happy-go-lucky chip tunes. And while that's certainly the case for a lot the music out there, it's far from the whole picture. You'll find ambient, progressive rock, indie rock, experimental electronica and ither interesting stuff on some the albums/OST's out there. Dig in.

This is a collection of some of the more out-there music. Groovy shit. Also some straight up electronica mixed with more dreamy, ambient music - coming together in a great way I think. Music from games like GTA V, Minecraft, Duet, Snapshot, Rijn the Specpyre in... Manor of The Damned, Samorost 2, Machinarium, Super Meat Boy!, Dustfall and many more.

Here's more beats from games: http://www.mixcloud.com/martinlassenvernal/beats-from-games-music-from-games-compilation-soundtrack-mixtape-no11/

Rock on.

....and I am running out of words for these mixes ;) Speaking of GTA.. That third game was the reason I started "dj-ing". Listening to that Flash FM, remembering all these tunes from my childhood wanted me to share them with other people. So Klubb Skoldisco was born and each month we came up with a new retro theme concept to a cheering crowd. Big up once again, these mixes rule!

I meant the overuse of 'sampled' music. I noted a couple of tracks here that are unique.

I hear you. I've never really paid the gta games' music any attention. As you say its just playlists. But for their latest gta installation they've had artists write songs specifically for the game AND produced an entire original ambient score. This is cool.

Awesome compilation. It shows that Grand Theft Auto lacks the imagination.
