I had the "Ring My Bell" 45 too and bought the "Bad Girls" double album - which was a bit of an embarrassing moment: I had miscalculated the amount of pocket money I had left and had to return to the shop the next day to pay off my debt with some money borrowed off my brother. Still can't believe they'd let me take the record home. Dear old little record shop... Yeah, I'm back in '79 alright!

Ah, that's a great story - that would not happen in our current times, I fear.

Oh, and by the way: the top 3 is a great little minimix in its own right.

Thank you! (although it was purely happenstance.... heh) - I had all three of those 45's too at the time, they really do take me back to summer of '79.

And there they are at last: the Bee Gees! It's disco time at the top, but great to hear some of the less danceable tunes as well. "Gold" is one of my all time favorites, and I'm rather partial to "Chuck E's In Love" too. I feel transported back to the Summer of '79, which is very nice, albeit a bit inconvenient, as I've got some work to do. Sod it, let's dance!

Ooh, skiving work to dance (and make more mixes) is an option? I'm in! "Gold" is one of my favorites too (Lindsey & Stevie really shine on that track) and I'm a very big fan of all of Rickie Lee Jones' work - seems a bit unjust that she doesn't have more chart placings.
