1985 Ron Hardy "Box Boy Classic"

1985 Ron Hardy "Box Boy Classic"

About the show

Playing tracks by

Frankie Knuckles.

"I actually had this mix back in 1985. I got it from my cousin John Muhammad, who got it from a classmate of his they called Quix. I lost my copy around the time I got heavy into rap music in the fall of '86. Fortunately I was 'reunited' with it in the winter of 1991/1992 when my boy ShuRa Rogers let me borrow a shoe box with about 30 House tapes in it that he got from his cousin. Oddly enough, whoever dubbed this copy added in their own sound effects at certain points, and actually started their own mix before Ron's mix was over! The last song heard in this clip was followed by the Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes featuring Teddy Pendergrass version of 'Don't Leave Me This Way'; which Hardy brought back into the mix for a 2nd time. He then played his own track 'You're Mine' again (which started the whole mix), and then went into Jamie Principal's 'Baby Wants to Ride'. Even with those 3 songs missing, this mix from the legendary Music Box is still a 5 star classic."-MC
