This episode is the fifth in row to focus on one particular country and its (film) music. We purposely ignored guitars for a second and focused on the music of three composers. Luis de Pablo: the avant-garde adherent of the Generation of 51', belonging to the 'school' of Nueva Musica, who collaborated 5 times with Carlos de Saura. Alberto Iglesias who is in a way the Spanish John Williams. However, instead of reintroducing large orchestras he favors smaller ensembles such as string quartets. An interview with Lucas Vidal we conducted at the World Soundtrack Awards in Ghent gives an inside in his sources inspiration and the creation of a soundtrack. Additionally we invited Curro Fuentes (Universidad de Murcia) and Ana Alvarez (KULeuven) for discussion on Spanish film.
