This episode is the fourth in row to focus on one particular country and its (film) music. Ireland has a diverse history of film music and we show how different styles cvan shape a soundtrack. Seán Ó Riada has been one of the stimulating forces of the revival of Irish folk music. His soundtrack of Mise Éire accounts for the above-mentioned diversity of styles: modernism, orchestral music, Irish folk music, popular tunes, ... An interview with Irish (film)composer Brian Byrne is devoted to his influences and his soundtrack to Albert Nobss. At the Filmfestival of Ghent he received two World Soundtrack Awards for his work: Discovery of the Year and Best Original Song Written for a Film.
