A slowly developing amalgamation of mixed-genre madness, fusing ambient, experimental & jazz soundscapes into a mixture of quiet deconstruction.

"Slow Decay" is a collaborative mix from Low Light Mixes & Ambient Landscape.

Gene(ambient landscape) came up with the title and I started things off with a couple of cuts, sent it to Gene, he added a few more, sent it back to me, I added more tracks and so on and so on. Until we had a fascinating 1 hour & 16 minute journey.

Very much like `The Necks` [ Australian Jazz group ] in style/concept.

YES! Awesome build up.

Duggan Phillips

crap, now I feel bad. because this basinski 'cover' is beyond good

Duggan Phillips

ugh, not methany! dejohnette is best w/jarrett. either way, this tune sends the 'slow decay' swim of songs a bit offcourse

Ambient Landscape

LOL. Duggan "Zero Followers" Phillips would like to complain. He doesn't have any mixes of his own to sport...but he likes to bitch nonetheless. Metheny's Jazz chops speak for themselves, Duggie. Methinks, of course, it's your ears that are a bit off-course. Then again music IS subjective...but let's maybe see what you can cobble together (when you're not complaining, that is!) ;- D

Duggan Phillips

wow. Methinks you ‘protesteth’ a bit too much. I just discovered this site and am still figuring it out. A pop-up suggested I make a comment which led to me ‘thinking out loud’ re the Methany and then a minute later I made another comment that was basically both a retraction of the first and total affirmation regarding his choice of a Baskinsi cover I had never heard. I usually stay away from the Comments world in terms of how shitty people can be, but when I have I have always tried to critique somebody’s words or ideas and not the person. Your reply obviously took pleasure in going the shitty route and its logic seemed to come down to, ‘dude, you can’t be a dick like me until you have mixes and followers.’ Well, I am a computer illiterate in that regards but do know a lot of music. Believe me, I wished I liked Methany. Who likes liking to dislike music? I guess some do, so as to vent over those profane and unenlightened. I don’t. Life is too short to dwell on the shitty. For that reason I am usually focusing on what I like rather than the few artists I just can’t get into.

Duggan Phillips

I am now realizing the mix was a joint effort? either way, i liked it.

Ambient Landscape

Glad you liked it, Duggan. I look forward to getting to know you & your mix output...as you get to know your way around the site.
: )

like I said, I have neither the knowledge nor the computer skills to do mixes. I wish I did. I made mix tapes/CDs way back when, but alas, that was then. and i so envy and look up to all that is going on here. And the more I have thought about it, if I was skilled and was working hard on them and some Ass who was just chilling on the sidelines talked shite, I would probably have wanted to call him out as well. Needless to say, I'm a bit more enlightened now to what's going on here so thanks,

Ambient Landscape

It's the low light, lighting the landscape, lifting lossless, lush lullabies.
