Chart positions

This show was 4th in the global chill chart, 5th in the global ambient chart, 7th in the global jazz chart and 8th in the global chillout chart.

Ambient Sax? Yes, really, Ambient Sax. And it works!

This started 2 years ago when I created a playlist where I collected tracks that used a sax as a main instrument but had an ambient vibe. I was careful to not let it devolve into Kenny G schlock. But I still wasn't sure if an entire mix of sax would work, but, I gotta say, this mix turned out really well.

I have to ask, who is the artist on the last cut? It doesn't display in the app, but i recognize the melody as one of Brian Eno's.. Quite delightful!

It's Music for Airports covered by Delta Saxophone Quartet. Cheers!

Happy sax music can get irritating but this mix is just right for my ears. Thx. I might recommend a sax player by the name of Colin Stetson who, with the aid of circular breathing techiques and body microphones is a ke to produce some incredibly syncopated and intricatley patterned sounscapes...think Phillip Glass meets the Sax.

I'm a big Colin Stetson fan. I saw him at a club where I was literally standing 5 feet away from him as he performed his magic on his various saxes. It's unreal to watch in person. I'm glad you liked the mix, volume two will be coming this summer. Cheers!

Hi, I love it! Would love to download, is it possible? Thanks!

Thanks for this compilation. You're right that there's almost no ambient music featuring saxophone. I've been racking my brain and can't think of much of anything. The only tune that I came up, which is a bit more jazzy, but has really stayed with me over the years is "Short Film for David" by Beaver and Krause from their album Gandharva. While I was listening to that one again, for the first time in years, the next song up was "By Your Grace" from In a Wild Sanctury. There are also a couple nice selections from the film soundtrack for Betty Blue by Gabriel Yared. That's about what I can come up with.

Thanks for the recommendations! I have a new ambient sax playlist started in preparation for a follow-up mix and I added a couple of you suggestions. Thanks for listening. Cheers!
