Mostly Flute: Ambient New Age by Paul Asbury Seaman

Mostly Flute: Ambient New Age by Paul Asbury Seaman

Chart positions

This show was 1st in the global chill chart, 3rd in the global ambient chart and 5th in the global chillout chart.

Here's another great collection from my partner in ambient crime, Paul Asbury Seaman. Here's what he has to say about it:

“This is a crossover mix, as the title suggests, and may be the sweetest one I’ve ever done. I’ve kept the emphasis on an atmosphere of tranquility, tailor-made for going-to-sleep music. All of the tracks here are from the fairly-new Heart Dance Records. I discovered this label while looking on Bandcamp for an album recently featured on Hearts of Space. As I dug deeper, and contrary to my stereotypes about “uplifting” (read: new age) music, it became obvious that there was plenty here for space fans to like, or if you’re looking for something calm for meditation. Feel the flow around the stillness. (Cover image for this mix courtesy of Sherry Finzer, from the album LET THERE BE LIGHT.)”

The tracklist is in comments.

In the darkness of the night, occasionally relieved by glimpses of Nirvana...

Well put, Spengler. That's exactly right. I don't usually go in for feel-good music (though I do try to be a hopeful person). Sherry Finzer's flute music encompasses the melancholy, it doesn't try to dance above it. Thus (for me) it soothes in an authentic way. Comforting.

Another winner from my magical music man. :) Gorgeous!

This is absolutely superb.

Thanks for listening!

Michael Lowe

Absolutely beautiful awe inspiring and tranquil mix! Have always loved this style of flute playing ever since my first experience of Sacred Spirit! Thank you so much for this mix!

Paul Asbury Seaman

Thanks for taking the time to comment, Michael. I'm so glad to be able to share music that inspires and soothes me. And thanks to Dave Michuda (Low Light Mixes) for the engineering and providing a platform to do this!

Patrick Whitney

I love this!

Great collection! Thank you for including two tracks from my and Sherry's album "Sound Currents."

Paul Asbury Seaman

You're very welcome, Tom. "Whispers From Silence" is one of my favorite albums of the past couple years (I featured a track from it on a previous mix here: "Shimmering Land: A Meg Bowles Tribute.") You can also thank Stephen Hill of Hearts of Space because it was on that program, about a year ago that I first heard your and Sherry's music on THAT album. I'm honored that you took the time to comment here. Thank you! I'm so glad to have the opportunity to share some of my joy with others. I've got no musical talent myself, but maybe a little talent for making collages.

Kristian Radolovic

Excellent and very reflective and contemplative to a grand extreme level. In some ways has some superb drone qualities with the flute replacing a voice as if its singing the same song but with a different voice, Really, really wonderful.

Paul Asbury Seaman

Nice description, Kristian. Always appreciate your attention to our mixes, and your feedback.

Hi Guido, Dave and I took a little risk with this one--a little out of the famous "Low Lights" brand calm-n-edgy/melancholy sound. So I really appreciate you taking the time to comment--always the best measure of whether a mix is having an impact. Blessings to you... and through this week.

I must say that I really enjoyed it... listening right now.. late at night.. outside.. to cool down from a hot Summer day... :)
