Keeping Time in the Golden Hour

Keeping Time in the Golden Hour

Chart positions

This show was 1st in the global chill chart, 1st in the global dub chart, 2nd in the global chillout chart and 5th in the global ambient chart.

I stumbled upon the 2011 track Tulpa Ovi by Robag Wruhme. I loved the feel of tune and knew I needed it in a mix.

The cut has a feeling of motion similar to others I've used in train themed mixes. But it was more gentle, almost wistful. It made me think of traveling during sunset or the golden hour. Hence the title "Keeping Time in the Golden Hour."

I keep on coming back to this when I feel that ambient music is too spacy and foggy some days. Then I select this mix and it just has this grounding quality alongside the calm of ambient. I love it. Thanks man.

I'm so glad you got the feeling I was going for in this mix. I know exactly what you mean that sometimes after being enveloped in tape hiss & synth washes I just want a little bit of movement. Thanks for listening and commenting. Cheers!

Love all your mixes and revisit my favorites quite a bit, especially this one - it's lovely.

The first two minutes of St. Catherine and the Calm reminded me a lot of Harold Budd (RIP) and then the pulsing rhythm started that was definitely NOT Harold Budd. This definitely has a driving down the highway in a mellow kind of way feel to it. For me it doesn't feel like sunset (well, it's winter, so sunset comes pretty early), but kind of mid-day holiday mellow (or prepping for a night of partying).

It's always interesting to hear how mixes take on a different vibe for folks. I hear from a ton of people that listen to my Sunday Morning mixes in the early evening. Thanks for listening and commenting. Cheers!

Thankyou Sir, for transporting me gently out of a tumultuous week, what a lovely entree, for the weekend. Once again you have introduced me to many fine new artists, for me to peruse. The last song has me mesmerised.....
