Ar an Imeall, 22ú Meán Fómhair (September) 2002: Ceol ó 70 bliain ó shin, 1942

Playing tracks by

Cab Calloway, Woody Herman, Earl Hines Orchestra with Billy Eckstine, Fats Waller, Benny Goodman and more.

Mo chéad chlár faoi ceol ó 70 bliain ó shin, 1942: snag cheoil, ghrúpaí mór, agus gormcheoil. Agus ceol Éireannach ó Planxty agus Frank Harte.

My first show on music from 70 years ago, 1942: jazz, big bands and blues. Plus Irish music from Planxty and Frank Harte.

You probably answered my question about where that Slim song came from because I think I heard you say,
Ken Burns Jazz.

My dad would love this show, Liam. He loves Tommy, and Benny and old blues. This Slim Gaillard is great too. Do you have any recommendations for him?

Earl Hines is fantastic!

you know Cab Calloway is someone I haven't thoroughly explored and I should. I think he get's neglected sometimes. Is he considered Jazz or Big Band or Jump Blues? I prefer Count Basie a bit but that's only because I know more of his music.
