THE LAST CHAPTER OF LATIN WAVES, a bilingual programme (English & Spanish) which has been presented by critic and producer Javier Chandía since 2012. which covers Latin American music from its roots to the experimental.
Today Javier will broadcast the music of Juan Amenábar (Santiago, Chile, 1922-1999), engineer and composer, who began experimenting with electroacoustic music techniques in 1953, completing Los Peces, his first tape piece, and the second in Latin America, in 1957. During the following years, he composed several pieces using electroacoustic media. In 1991, Amenabar founded GEMA (Gabinete de Electroacústica para la Música de Arte) at the Arts Faculty of the University of Chile. The University honoured him by naming the aforementioned electroacoustic music lab after him.
