The inaugral Songs on the Underground radio show on K2K Radio features songs with a Bakerloo Line theme. With K2K Radio being located in Kilburn, it seemed only right to start off our London Underground tribute with the line closest to the studios.
The Bakerloo line was opened on 10th March 1906, with various stations opening up on it until 1915. It was initially known as the Baker Street and Waterloo Railway, but the contraction of the name to "Bakerloo" rapidly caught on and it was officially changed in July 1906.
There are 25 stations on the Bakerloo line, 15 of which are below ground. It's the 9th busiest line on the London Underground network and there are seven carriages per train, with the current stock dating back to 1972.
