Trudeau's Win Signals a Turn to the Left for Canada

Almost a decade of conservative leadership in Canada came to an end Monday as the Liberal Party's Justin Trudeau was elected prime minister. His centrist party gained more than 170 seats in parliament, signaling a resounding rejection of conservative Prime Minister Stephen Harper. Trudeau, son of former prime minister Pierre Trudeau, says he will raise income taxes on the wealthy, admit more Syrian refugees and legalize marijuana.
