Turkish Ladies 1970 -1977 is a 2nd mixtape from Ladies on Records made exclusively of Turkish women music from 70s. All vinyl live mixtape consists of selected tunes I have discovered while being here in Istanbul. My research is based on digging in music and exploring histories of female musicians and singers. The goal is to understand more of the times, aesthetics, social and cultural patterns and circumstances of creation of women music in 60s and 70s.

1970-1977 is the best period of Turkish music and culture history in 20th century. Time of freedom, dreaming and making big dreams come true. Enjoy selection of songs from poetic singers of the beginning of 70s to arabesk disco/ funky queens of dance floors of late 70s.

I came to Turkey in September 2015 and have been here in Istanbul up till now to dig and understand more.

yep in christchurch at the moment, the best way to explore to go to the countryside like svaneti, and record the songs, dont really know is it anybody who is collecting the georgian volkmusik, they like to sing, so its shouldnt be a big effort, the sound of it is really beautiful, and uniqe, so special like the bulgarian, and different like the azerian or armenian volk culture, if you like turkiye, you will love georgia

Császár Gábor

i spent there a couple of months, the ethnical music is really deep and beautiful there even the language could sound raff while speaking, look after for trio mandili, and iveria, anyway many thanks for the mixes, makes easier to enjoy the time here in nz, couse compare it with istambul, budapest tbilisi or krakkow, its the country of cultural nihilism

Ladies on Records

where are u now? Nz? I want to explore georgian music. i have several records of Iveria. will go there for sure.

Császár Gábor
