HipKing: Best African Jazz Vol.2

About the show

Four Swaziland connections for me on this one: Abdullah Ibrahim's 'Blues for a Hip King' was written for King Sobhuza II, the jazz-buff hip-king; I fondly remember Sakhile opening a show at the Royal Swazi Sun Convention Theatre with a bass-driven version of Hugh Masekela's 'Stimela'; David Hewitt performed his 'Slow Train' in a show at the Swaziland Theatre Club; and Sankomota performed at the first King's Trust concert at Somhlolo Stadium (also, of course, Jiggs Thorne's annual Bushfire event at House on Fire is now internationally known).
