Members of the resistance, even though they were persecuted by the Nazis refused to see themselves as victims. Instead, they saw themselves as resisting evil by resisting and rebelling against Nazi occupation. When we pray for persecuted Christians we often look at them as victims. But in today’s sermon on the Church of Smyrna in the book of Revelation, we will see that persecuted Christians are not victims. They perform the unique role of a resistance. Listen to our sermon on the 16th Sunday of Trinity, 1 oct 2017, preached by the Revd Dr Jules Gomes at St Augustine's Church, Douglas. Our reading is from Revelation 2:8-11.
