Jackson revisits his 1985 interview with Leonard Cohen, when the Canadian songwriter's career seemed to be at a low ebb and his US record company had refused to release Colin's latest album, Various Positions, In America. A cub Reporter 33 years ago, Jackson was inspired by his chat with Cohen, then a sprightly 50 years old and parts of it can be heard.

When Joe Jackson interviewed Leonard Cohen for the first time in 1985 the singer’s career was at an all-time low. His record company had refused to release in America Cohen’s latest album Various Positions. ‘They said it wasn't commercial enough Jackson recalls the ironic thing is that track one inside two of the LP was a song called Hallelujah which has since gone on to be Leonards most popular song.’
