Up From the Stacks, the Exeter Library show on Phonic FM from October 24th 2018

Playing tracks by

The Simpsons, Howard Shore, Free, Louis Armstrong, Karine Polwart and more.

Up From the Stacks, the Exeter library show on Phonic FM from October 24th 2018. The emphasis this time is on Halloween related music, interspersed with the odd film clip. But we also have time for some autumnal atmosphere, songs by artists who had appeared in Exeter during the preceding week and a couple of tracks from our box set of the week - Christopher Columbus: Lost Paradises by Jordi Savall and Hesperion XXI featuring the sublime vocals of Montserrat Figueras.

Exeter's Vanished Rock Venues

Another terrific show guys - entertaining and informative. And thanks for yet another plug!
By the way, I 'knew' Ray Pilgrim from 1962 when he was a singer for Embassy records who produced cheap knock-offs for Woolworths. Apparently, according to wikipedia, he was a big band singer. I am the proud possessor of Embassy's Lovesick Blues (original by Frank Ifield) b/w Let's Dance (original by Chris Montez) - ah, those were the days ...
Thanks, both, and thanks to Pat for his input to this month's show. Hopefully you'll come on the show, Jez, sometime next year if we can fit it in somehow with your day job?
Regards - Steve and Ally
PS Did Acantheus influence the Floyd - sounds suspiciously similar to Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun!
