"Hosanna! Hosanna to the Son of David!" The crowds loudly chanted as Jesus rode into Jerusalem on that Sunday—Palm Sunday—his final Sunday. In Jesus' day, it was a statement of praise meaning "Salvation! Salvation is here!" But originally "hosanna" was a cry for help, "save me please!" How is it that the word "hosanna" went from a plea to a praise? Because this is not the first time God has sent someone into a great city to bring salvation. Today, we will hear and feel from Jonah first-hand about a merciful God so determined to bring salvation that pleas can become praises.
