Sunday Night Mixes, 2011: Part 24 - Trip through Goa

Playing tracks by

Not yet Sunday in this part of the world, but almost Sunday in tiny state of Goa, on the west coast of India.

In the seventies Goa got to be the mekka for hippies. Around 1990 EBM, Trance and Acid artists got inspired to create a whole new subgenre, Goa Trance. The original goal of the music was to assist the dancers in experiencing a collective state of bodily transcendence, similar to that of ancient shamanic dancing rituals, through hypnotic, pulsing melodies and rhythms. Out of Goa Trance the more mainstream Psy-Trance developed.

Expect a slow build up, many analog synthesizer sounds, low & high pass filters gone wild, pumping bass and a gentle return to reality! Enjoy the trip!
