Now this one takes me back. I recorded this tape (this is side A, side B to follow) in September 1999, less than a year after learning how to beat-match, moving back from Hong Kong and having my own decks. I'd moved back in with my parents cos i couldn't afford my own place, and they were very sweet in not moaning too much about all the noise thumping out of the bedroom of the daughter they thought they'd got rid of six years earlier.
At this time I was practicing playing records all day, every day. I was really into it. So much so that one day I got properly lost in the mix. After a few hours I took a break, took off my headphones, looked around and there were my parents (both well into their 60s), having a dance, giggling away.
House music: makes pensioners dance.
