A very early mix from my DJ days. This was a home recorded practice run for a set I played at Hanky Panky's all-nighter at The Shires Hotel, Rutland in June 1997. I'm pleased i had the mixtape of this set because it records the period when my beat & bar matching during the mixes really started to sync and I felt that I was now in control of the mixes, the flow of the set and the crowd dynamics that follow. The track listing for this mix works well, the mix builds nicely and many of the tunes i'd just bought (Hellfire & Acid War in particular) and were to become classics at the Hanky Panky nights. The mix captures a moment in time that was full of energy, good music being released every week and a harder dance sound that is now not so popular.

The cover tape pic shows the homemade cover utilising a Pendragon flyer, a big influence on my sound and Hanky Panky's decor. Read More on Pendragon.

Nice. Great mixing, bit of the human element (cross-fade cutting that we tend not to hear so much anymore). And some great tunes - really loved this era. Thanks!

Cheers Rich

I haven't even listened yet and I love it. I can't remember when was the first time I came down to the Shires with Karen and Rob but they were some messy nights. And that was just the start... I really need to get my archive of HP and FORCE mixes out...

Wonder if I went to this party? Nice mix. The tune at about 7mins is FSOL'like. Liking the one after it as well. Timeless music...
