Playing tracks by
T.Rex, Hello?, 1910 Fruitgum Company, Sweet, The Loot and more.
I guess I started dj'ng by playing records for my friends in my room. Among other things, I was obsessed with late 60's British pop, American bubblegum, and of course all the Glitter and Glam records coming out of the U.K. . They were NOT easy to find in the States back then, so desperate as I was to get them, I wrote letters to the U.K. record companies like Bell Records, Rak Records, The T-Rex Wax Co., and told them I was a writer and reviewer for magazines here in the States and could they please add me to the mailing list and send me copies of their releases. Guess what? They did. I was a 14 year old kid, and every other day or so it was like Christmas in my mailbox. When doing this mix, I dug out some of my favorites from that time, and a few later early pop punk tracks from late 70's, and also a little band called Milk n Cookies that I happened to be the lead singer for. I imagined I was back in my room, playing records for my friends.
