In the Public Square: Despite our love affair with freedom, freedom is not and cannot be absolute. Freedom must have limits and boundaries. No constitution, no body of law or armed force is adequate to police a morally confused people who confuse lawlessness with freedom. The only question is this: shall the boundaries of liberty be set by the state or by the invisible constraints of character?
