After secondary school, Seun Olota enrolled into a music school and became a regular face at the Atinuke Olabanji KALAKUTA Republic. On one such visits he says, “I heard Duro play with ease some piano keys that I have found so difficult to play”. He became close to Duro IKUJENYO and was allowed to play the piano at the Republic. He got hooked and thereafter began his romance with the man, his music and his life.
Fela overheard him play the piano one day and sent for him. That was Seun Olota’s day of Glory. Fela commended him. He felt fulfilled. Playing for the Fela’s Egypt ’80 band however, came years later.
Between the day of Fela’s recognition of Seun Olota’s actual performance for the Egypt ’80 band, was his period of tutelage at the KALAKUTA “University”.
