King of the rat race (down the drain mix) 2010

King of the rat race (down the drain mix) 2010

Playing tracks by

Scott Ferguson, Ronan, Fabriques Sirotti, DJ Afgan & BZ Dark INC., Miguel de Deus and more.

This mix is based on a (mental) trip that really happened—one I am sure you will relate too.

2010, I walked into one of those clubs where we go to be seen. After ordering a pricey “hand crafted” cocktail, I went to the restroom. As I stood there draining hand-crafted brews, a giant rat came out of drain. It looked me in the eyes and proceeded to swallow me whole. Jumping back down the drain the king of the rats spit me out on the other side. “You taste poor” said the giant rat as he turned and walked away. Glad to be free of judgment, I started to dance. I was truly free. Spinning & shaking my hips as I made love in a seemingly loveless world. Suddenly surrounded by everybody—past, present & future—yes that’s right YOU WERE THERE. I saw how beautiful we all are. Free from the rat race I washed my hands, walked passed my specialty cocktail, never to return.

Dancing is freedom. Together we are powerful.

Your hearts, ears and souls are appreciated!

First night in a few days that I felt a strong need to pop on the headphones and get away. As I'm listening to this, my eyes bounce back and for between your extremely bizarre tale and the ghostly Rat King subdued at bayonet point. The indy groove is weaving into my head as I long for an escape from the rat race. Then i think of carreer and responsibilities..resigned that I'm neck deep in rats for life. Moments like this... lost in the headphones ARE the oasis.Excellent work here. Really got into it by 9-13. The snap out of outer space mode prize is a tie between 6 and 14..they both totally caught me off guard. Nice smooth jazzy outro to ease back into the rat race. Thanks for sharing!

The Lemon Circus

As usual my friend - a great set put together with passion - that Control Yourself Cousin track with it's retro groove, Italian piano and 90's soul loops was really nice to listen to on my first morning back at work - makes me want to think about escaping with a holiday :)
