OK, so here's a (not so) little personal sound design project of mine.
You're probably at least a little bit familiar with the original War of the Worlds radio broadcast by Orson Welles. If you've not heard it, you probably know that many people who heard it live on the night before Halloween 1938 didn't realize it was merely a dramatization of H.G.Wells' book of the same name. Because the show was nationally syndicated, mass hysteria broke out throughout the country, and especially in central and northern New Jersey where the fictional events took place.
That original radio broadcast is very well done, but I've always wanted to add some sound effects and music to give the whole thing an updated sound. I edited out the fat, raided my sound effects library and threw in some (mostly gloomy, spooky, dark) ambient music. I'm sure if they would have had the tools back then as I do now, they would have used them similarly.
